Password policies of top internet companies broken down

A team of security researchers at Dashlane, a password security company with similar services like Lastpass, has analyzed close to 50 online services on their password practice. They’ve analyzed big companies like Spotify, Uber, GoDaddy, etc. and let’s say they’re not all quite as secure when it comes to their password policies.

Apple patches BroadPwn Exploit

Recently Apple released the iOS 10.3.3 security patch which patches a huge WiFi exploit called BroadPwn. Apple rolling out this patch means that now both Apple and Android devices running the latest software are safe from the attack. Google rolled out it’s version of the patch on July the 5th 2017.

New Windows Backdoor Malware CowerSnail discovered

A new kind of Backdoor Malware has been seen on the radar of security researchers. The trojan named CowerSnail is a virus made by the same group that was responsible for the exploitation SambaCry vulnerability that made it possible for them infect a load of Linux servers for the mining of cryptocurrency.

Petya creator releases private key

The original creator of the Petya ransomware, who goes under the alias “Janus”, has released the private key of the infamous Petya malware. This key will help the recovery or decryption of computers infected with Petya. It will not help however, with the decryption of files infected with the more recent variant called “NotPetya”.
